quiltingwithlove
I'm an owner of one of these thinking it would help my tension problems. It came with instructions on how to place the bobbin in the case and pull the thread. But no suggestions as to what the numbers should be! One bobbin is 10 one 20 and one 30 and I am still confused! Thanks for the response in advance! Susie Q
BarbWetzel
Susie Q.... I use Pre-wound bobbins that I bought from APQS and they work wonderfully. I haven't even wound a single bobin yet. I would use the same weight of thread in the bottom as the top. remrn
I have a TOWA gage also and here is how I found what worked. I experimented on my LA until I had the tension right. No top thread on the bottom and no bobbin thread on the top and I liked the look of the stitches. I then removed the bobbin and measured the tension using the gage and wrote down the reading and what type thread I was using. Repeated this for the several bobbin threads I use in addition to self wound and pre-wound. This didn't take long and I ended up with a chart indicating what the reading should be before I start. Works great....Consistency is everything.....Good Luck.

jcqlnurcheck
I have a Towa Gage and absolutely love it. Metal bobbins should measure 15-18 and prewound are 20-23. It only takes a second to check your bobbins and ithas helped me tremendously by checking the bobbin tension with the gauge. It cut my tension problems in half. diane Bevans
Ditto on what Jackie said, it has helped me a lot. But I like chart idea, I will probably incorporated that into my handbook.
