KarenH
I spent an hour last reading thru all of the posts on thread breakage, but I did not see anything about thread breaking only left to right. I have checked everything I can think of, I have a new needle, cleaned, oiled, rechecked and double checked!! I can quilt top to bottom, bottom to top, swirls any thing but left to right. Any ideas??? There doesn't seem to be a pattern of breakage, and of course I have something on the machine that I have a deadline for!!! I do not have a another cone of this thread, and I do not have any Sewers Aid, which I might get anyway! Thanks in advance for any help
sewingpup
Hi, I have had problems with my thread breaking gong from right to left....it was when I was doing simple "wavy" lines across the entire quilt...so I just tied off at the end and moved back to the left side to make the next line. I think it has something to do with the orientation of the needle opening and the way the bobbin rotates....and If I was more experienced, I might have been able to figure it out and make the adjustments...but I couldn't figure it out at the time and just did this simple fix way of finishing the quilt, hopefully more experienced folks will chime in shortly. LeeAnn
I read once that the needle should be put in at 6:35 orientation. Not sure if this would help or is even right but worth a try.
qltnbe
I agree, the needle position is probably the problem Loosen your needle, stick a pin in the needle hole and turn slightly clockwise from the 12 o'clock position and I do mean slightly. That should help.
KarenH
Thank you LeeAnn for the suggestion!!! I would have not guessed that was the issue, but after a slight turn to the left of the needle, I only had one breakage after 5 passes on the quilt. Hopefully now I can get this done! I have to admit I have never really had any issues with tension or thread before, so not being able to figure it out was a bit frustrating!!! So glad I decided to post the question, thank again!!!
