Myrna Ficken
I posted a few photos on my webshots. As soon as I finish the quilt that is on I will do step by step photos for anyone that wants them. Myrna
BarbWetzel
Thanks Myna... I just went to your Website but I didn't find anything about the zippers. You have a great website. I dropped a check for the Hartley Fence book in the mail to you today. Thanks... Barb Wetzel Ivy Corner quilting Altoona, Iowa

v-starlady
Myrna, do the zipper sets come already sewn onto the take up canvas or does the canvas have to be removed and the zippers sewn on. I'm sorry to be so simple and I greatly appreciate the pictures. I just don't seem to be able to get this in my head. But, I've always had trouble loading. I've just always thought that was due to never having had a hands on lesson. Thank you in advance for you assistance. I see you everyday on here answering our questions. It's so kind of you to help all of us. Thanks again - Diane
Myrna Ficken
Hi Diane, You have to sew them to your leaders. Just use your longarm to do thins. They come with a good set of directions. Thank you. it's hard whern you are out there on your own trying to figure things. But taking classes is worth every thing. I'll keep you posted on my schedule maybe I can get to your area. ramona-quilter
Hi Diane, I used my longarm to sew the zippers on the leaders. It was easier with my husband holding onto the zipper as I stitched. I s-l-o-w-e-d down the speed. I didn't want to baste them on - they need to be firming attached to the leader, I backstitched an inch on each end. The great things is, you can still pin if you want....I just don't want to. On my DSM, I zigzag baste the top and bottom of my backing fabric to 2 of the zippers (they are clearly marked) and I baste the bottom of my my quilt top to the 3rd zipper. Then I float my batting and the top of my quilt top and baste those (batting & top of quilt top) on using the longarm in a long basting stitch. Works great. Sue Schmieden sure invented the perfect tool. I just bought 2 more sets from Myrna. That way I can take off one quilt for a while and put on another.
