DoryJM
I'm just getting the hang of monofilament on top for SID and its working quite well. Super loose tension on top, normal on bottom...I'm really liking it. But...I'd love to have mono top & bottom--do any of you use the prewounds from Superior and/or wind mono bobbins yourself? Is there a trick to using both at the same time?
quiltmonkey
I wind my own bobbins for monofilament. I use my DSM bobbin winder as I think it winds slower. I've had great luck running monofilament in top and bobbin at the same time. Keep the tension a little looser and test it. I've had no troubles. DoryJM
Thanks, Shana...that's what I was wondering. Is your bobbin tension loose as well?
Sheri Butler
Also, dont fill your bobbin all the way with the monofilament. A tad over half way. Dawn C recomended that, so I didn't question it, and just automatically do it that way.
quiltmonkey
Yes both top & bottom tensions should be a teeny bit looser. Just stitch test it on fabric. I've had lots of luck with it. Easy to work with.
