veg-girl
I am quilting quite a lot of quilts with Moda fabrics in them. The colours tend to be soft/dull/grey and I am finding it difficult to get a variegated thread that looks good with these fabrics especially the reds. I have found that King Tut 925 is not bad provided the quilt isn't too red and 910 or 990 does the greens but all the reds are much too bright. Browns aren't too easy either. I,ve looked at YLI (or is it Robison Anton) and the best seemed to be the thimbleberries range which they now seem to have stopped selling at least here in the UK.. Does anyone know of any other threads with dull red in them? Preferably cotton.
Mrs.A
Tutti by Wonderfil threads is a cotton variegated thread...there are a couple tone-on-tone reds you might want to check out. A list of their suppliers is available on the Wonderfil website. I've run this thread successfully in my George (who has balked at some other cotton threads). Tutti is a 50 weight...they also have a 12 weight called Frutti (who names this stuff?) but I haven't tried the heavier weight yet. yeoldeforest
Yvette, So Fine by Superior Threads has a dull red color but it's not variegated. Also, it's a poly that looks like cotton. However, it blends really well with the Moda reds.
