Dara in IA
I am totally unable to stitch from right to left. Top thread breaks, every time. I just finished a king size top, but no straight lines, all freehand. I haven't broken a needle, haven't hit anything. Any suggestions? I will call APQS in the morning if I don't solve this. This quilt has to get done by the 14th!!! Thanks....
Busy Quilting
Sounds like it could be catching on something from that direction. Try changing the needle and don't forget to set it at 6.35am( ie just to the left of being straight in). See if that helps. That corrected a problem I was having with the thread shredding. Mary Beth
There could be a tiny little rough spot on the needle plate too. You can run your finger over it and take something very, very fine and smooth it down.
JoAnnHoffman
Check for a groove or scratch in needle hole. They have small emory robe at the hardware store to buff it out. Change to a new bobbin case too.

Dara in IA
Problem solved!! I had just changed the needle and could have sworn it was in at 6:00...but when I checked it, was more like 6:30 or 6:45....rotated back to 5:45 and stitching like a dream! Gotta remember to do that in the future..check first, panic second! Thanks for your advice ladies!!
