New Leaders

I know there are many who still have their original set of leaders. I have not been very kind to mine and they just don't want to straighten out anymore and getting kinda "limp" and "stretched" for a better word. Had I done more looking and listening over these last few years I might not have to do this, but..... it is never too late. So I am looking to purchase new leaders and will treat them with much more respect, implementing many of the things I have read here.

So my question is where do I get a new set of leaders at a good price? Or what kind of canvas is good if I want to make them myself? I am sure someone has done that too.

You can get some wonderful heavy duty stripped leader canvas at Bayside Quilting. They carry several colors. Kind of expensive because you have to buy so much but it is a very good quality of canvas. It might be just as cheap to buy new ones through APQS. You might also try marine supply stores - they generally carry good canvas.

I made new leaders for my old machine out of drapery lining and that worked really well. It is heavy duty but doesn't stretch. I got it 1/2 price with my coupon from Joanns.

I ordered my new ones apqs, they are a lot heavier the the orginal ones that were on the machine. It really takes time to remove the old ones and the glue, but sure glad I did and the new leaders I but on the zipper system and love that!

If you do a search on Tina Collins name, she posted a long time ago on how to bring your leaders back into shape....very well written instructions and worth trying before you buy new ones. APQS does sell new leaders too, call Amy or Christie and they'll let you know how much they are.
