JakesMom
I have a quilt top ready to use for my first REAL attempt at short arm quilting. It's using all the Funky Monkey (Moda, I believe) fabric. Any creative suggestions? Penny
Grammie
Well a meander will look great but so would bananas or banana leaves. Just have fun whatever you choose. If your going to wing it freehand practice it out on paper if it something new to you. Even a sandwiched muslin before you begin. You mentioned shortarm and I am assuming you have it on a Domestic quilting frame. Remember when drawing the sewing space you have or the thoat space so it will fit the space when you actually stitch it. I used to quilt on my domestic and it took planning if you it were anything other than meander or peacocks or just freehand feathers. Shapes were always difficult with a small throat space but many do it well. If you do use pantos there is a banana leaf panta I believe by Deb Designs. Good luck to you. Let us know how it goes. Judi
Penny - I have a pattern and a bunch of this fabric to make a quilt with. In mine I will be quilting a bunch of bananas in the center of the snowball block and the other block in this is the moneky wrench. There I would probably do SID (stitch in the ditch) There will be about 5 rather large applique' d monkeys on this quilt top too. This fabric is so bright and colorful - just have fun with it. I like the idea of Tammies with the banana leaves too - I think the red lips on those monkeys pop-out the most to me!
