Judi
This is something that I am doing now. I lay a clean flat sheet over the belly bar while I am quilting. This prevents a ruler or scissors (marking pens anything!) from getting rolled INTO the quilt. Not that this has ever happend to me! LOL! I have also found that my nice black apron is leaving little lint like balls on any Poly batting. I wondered "why" when I had to pick these off before advancing the quilt....hmmm....solved that mystery! And this way - the quilt top seams do not get rubbed or agitated. I have been working with very old vintage quilts as of late, and do NOT want to have any oopses - no way of replacing any of that fabic! My other thought is, that so many people have problems with the batting down by their feet. (It isn't for me, I just kick it back, tuck it under, and go.) But with this sheet, maybe a person could make a type of hamock or sling to hold the batt in, then just take it down before you advance / roll it. lizziesgirl
That is a great idea. I was wondering what to do when I get my Millienum because where it is going will be a walk way and I was worried about the batting and quilt getting dirty. I was planning on tucking the batting underneath on top of totes but a making a pocket for it to rest in would work also. I will have to give this a try. Can't wait to get my machine.
