Butterfly
A long time ago, maybe a few months, I read on here how to baste a quilt that someone was going to hand quilt. The person explained that the basting was done in like a castle shape. Anyway, I need to know how to baste, and quick. I took in a beautiful baltimore album today and said I'd do it by the end of this week. Also, is $50 a good charge for a queen? Jessica
BethDurand
As a hand quilter as well, I just do a big, loose meander. I set my stitch length to 11 stitches per inch, turn off the stitch regulator and make nice big stitches. I like to use SF in a color that shows up well for removing the threads as she comes to them, and then whatever color of bobbin thread I have that I want to use up. I charge 4.007 per sq. inch for basting, so if the quilt is 80x100, that words out to $56 according to my calculations. Have fun! Basting is really a breeze because it's so big and loose. Hollyrw
I've done a large meander with water soluble thread.
Joyce
I've been told to always use a nutural color thread, because sometimes color can rub off on fabric. Wasn't worth taking the chanch. IMHO
