dpeytonmk
Quilting sandwich: cotton on top, needled cotton batting with flannel on bottom. Thread: King Tut on top and Masterpiece on bottom; Using Superior Thread top and bottom tension settings and top stitch looks great going left to right and right to left, but bottom tension looks good going left to right but is too tight going right to left. Is this just normal for a Millie or do I need another adjustment? Help!!! Thanks in advance...I'm a relatively new longarmer.
jeri
You'll need to adjust your tension so it looks good any direction that you stitch.
DawnCavanaugh
Needle flex is causing the trouble. Try loosening the bobbin tension more, and then tightening the top. If that doesn't work, try a needle a bit larger to reduce the flexing action. Also, be sure your quilt sandwich isn't too tight. dpeytonmk
Thank you, Jerri...I knew there needed to be adjustment, and had done some, but wasn't having any success. I'll check out the flex, Dawn...I appreciate you ladies!
o2b Quilting
Superior Rep told me last week at MN Quilt Show that Masterpiece is a domestic sewing machine thread designed for use while piecing. Do you have something like Bottom Line to try in the bobbin?
jeri
Sorry couldn't add more detailed help. I was at work and in a slow few min checked the forum. I work customer service so am on the phone all day-- didn't get a chance to check back in. I was "cheating: even checking the forum. Had a call come in so couldn't post any more. dpeytonmk
I made adjustments based on Dawn's post and the stitch is much better. Ended up changing the needle to a larger size. Masterpiece on a longarm may be the root of my problems. Thanks for your help!
