LauraJ
I just got in a quilt that the central part of the piecing was done on muslin squares and the squares are seamed - double layer of fabric. The border is a single layer of fabric. It's going to be pantograph quilted with W&N that she gave me. Needle size - larger motif pantograph? Never did one like this so am asking "expert" opinions from anyone who has done one. Much thanks!!!
ffq-lar
Hi Laura--I just finished a fan quilt where the fans were backed with muslin as a foundation and then machine-sewn to a print square. I had no difficulty with it--did freehand quilting and she supplied Fairfield 80/20 for batting. Regular #4 needle. You might remind her that W&N will result in a flatter quilt with less stitch definition. Our machines are workhorses and meant for industrial applications, so four layers of fabric along with batting and backer will be OK.
Quilting Heidi
Laura, I don't think you'll have a problem at all. I would use a 4.0 needle like Linda says.
LauraJ
Thanks - that's what I needed. Will jump on this quilt tomorrow!
jeri
I've done heavy decorator fabrics top and back with 20oz poly batt with a 4.0 needle with no issues. Huge comforter King to the floor with the really thick top mattress.
