quilterscafe
Hey everybody, I'm watching the Ricky Tim's DVD, "Grand Finale" and boy is it helpful! http://www.rickytims.com/Grand%20Finale.htm -Free motion all over designs (3) -Free motion feathers -Custom feather designs -Cut away trapunto w/applique scissors (cool!) -Bobbin embroidery -Marking a quilting pattern from the back of the quilt using polyester tear away stabilizer and disappearing thread (very cool!!!) It was a whole whopping $21.00! This video provided alot of details and how-to's to achieve an heirloom look for your quilts. If you found the inspiration to make an heirloom quilt from Karen McTavish's books, but found that her videos didn't provide all the "details" to follow through with your own quilts, this DVD will get you there, it was AWESOME! quilterscafe
Go for it Bekah! You'll love it. This DVD covers all the basics of heirloom quilting, custom quilting designs, and includes some really knock out tips on marking the quilt top. I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was and how much I learned! Kathy
Ferret
Yup, this is an amazing DVD, but then I loved his first DVD too. I hope one day I will get to attend one of his classes live, I am sure he would be a great tutor. Ferret
qfairy
does he show it on a LA or Bernina? I made a mistake once in order thinking they were using a LA machine but was mistaken. The idea of freehand came across but not using one of those itty bitty sewing machines gave me no disire to try it that way

quilterscafe
qfairy, I understand your feelings about short arm vs. long arm. There are some really cool things in the video that are relevant no matter what machine you use. But the free motion segment is done on a Bernina like Hubert mentioned.
