Many things to be Thankful for

Recommended Posts

On this day before Thanksgiving, I just wanted to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving and find out what you might be Thankful for.

Today, we are extremely thankfull for a good report on our son. We got a call earlier today from our DIL that our son Rick had to go to emergency last night with chest pains and shortness of breath. He is only 37 yrs old. After many tests, it was down to either a blockage in his arteries, or the virius that he came down with last week had invaded his heart. They did an angioplasty and the tests showed that thankfully it was the latter. He will have to stay in the hospital tonight and maybe tomorrow, but they are on top of it. It is so hard to be on the west coast and him on the east coast and I had visions of a flying trip to the airport and a long day of travel on the busiest travel day of the year. God is good and He answered our prayers. Now we truly have something to be thankful for.

Pat, I am so glad to learn that your son will be OK.

Linda, I'm with you and agree we all surely have many things we take for granted every day that we are thankful for.

Right now, on a daily basis, I pretty much appreciate that I can make it safely back and forth from my bed to the bathroom. Personally, for me, these past ten days has shown me that this world is full of wonderful people who want to help. I have been blessed with the kindness of many people. You see, on Nov. 10, I fell down a set of stairs at home and broke my heel bone and it will require surgery. After looking at my emergency room CT scan, my doctor in Fairbanks referred me to a foot specialist in Anchorage and I'm scheduled for surgery on Nov. 28. So, I have to fly down there and back with this big cast on my leg. Due to the nature of this injury, I will ultimately be in a cast for three months. Oh goodie goodie! :( But through it all, I am most thankful that I have someone like Andre to take care of me. Over the past week, he's become quite the cook and housekeeper! :D:D He's even making Thanksgiving turkey dinner. So, this year, I don't have to cook or clean up...just sit, eat and watch.

May all of you have a wonderful holiday with your family.

Pat-the power of prayer is a wonderous thing, glad to hear your son is recovering.

Shana good luck with your surgery and speedy recovery. Take advantage of the help you receive

Glenda, so sorry to hear about your loss, but words just aren't enough to express how we feel. Take care of yourself.

I am very thankful for being here with my husband and son, not just today but every day.

My heart goes out to all of you. I know how challenging it is to have illness, injury and the loss of someone, especially your child.

My GOD look down upon you and give you strength.

I am thankful for my DH, children, my continued better health, and to be here another day. Remember, every day is a gift, that's why it's called the present.

Happy Thanksgivings to all.

What kind people this group has. I talked to my son last night and then again this morning on the phone. They are letting him go home from the hospital but with medication. The virus appears to be leaving his body (I'm already believing that it is gone) but he will have to go into the Dr on Monday morning for more blood tests to make sure. I'm so thankful for prayers and to see the answer so quickly is wonderful. May all of us here be sure and remember as Tish said - Remember, every day is a gift, that's why it's called the present. We are all truely blessed.
