mswings
Anyone have an idea on how to quilt a spools quilt? I have been looking for ideas but haven't found any pictures of one. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
ffq-lar
Picture? Is this the spools block or the name of a pattern? These are so pretty done in repro fabrics. If it's the block that looks like thread spools, quilt down the background and use a narrow ribbon candy or just freehanded, straight parallel lines to represent the thread. Then the ends can be left without quilting if they are small, or if they are larger and need some quilting, quilted with rays or petals to fill the space. ffq-lar
Right side--spools with narrow ribbon candy for the thread and a stipple in the background. Ends left without quilting.

mswings
Thanks Linda. I love it. I was completely stumped. I knew I didn't want a panto. I really appreciate the help. I still don't know how to post pics. I need to sit down and figure that out. Thanks again.
Sheri Butler
Linda did EXACTLY what i'd of done. Leave the spool ends ALONE, unless your quilt has huge spools, then you could echo straight lines inside the spool ends (if you get my meaning). Do any medium/heavy background quilting behind the spools like Linda did will set those spools apart from ea other. NIIIIICE Linda! LOVE that quilt!
