lilly:)
So, I got my Millie....Snoopy Dance!!!! I am working on the tension and I am wondering what the perfect stitch looks like? How will I know when I have it? Can anyone post pictures?
ffq-lar
Congrats on your purchase! A perfect stitch looks the same on the top and the back of the quilt. There is no "pull" in tight curves and no bobbin thread showing at sharp corners. Good stitches are a product of good tension and you'll know bad stitches when you see them! A newbies friend when starting out? Bobbin and top thread that match in color--and also in weight until you get a handle on tension. Thread color that matches the fabric--very forgiving. A Towa tension gauge for adjusting bobbin tension. A good guide for tension adjustment--do a search here for good tension and how to achieve it. This site is a great place for advise when you have problems. Good luck with your new machine and happy quilting!
Marti10245
Congrats on your new machine!!!!!! I have a Millie and I just love her there is a learning curve but as soon as you get the hang of her you will be stitching along in no time. I had to play with my tension until I got it just right but you will get it, just play.
Sue E.
Here's a chart from Superior Threads that explains tension. Hope it helps. http://www.superiorthreads.com/education/thread-tug-of-war/
