Lynne
Help!! My thread is fraying and breaking at least once in every pass across a queen size quilt. I'm using Superior's Polyquilter on my Freedom and I've checked everything I can think of. The stitches look great, I've changed needles, I've cleaned the bobbin case thoroughly, but still I get fraying around the needle and eventual breakage. I'm quilting a flannel quilt with a flannel back and Hobbs 80/20 batting. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!! This list is great!!! JudyL
Lynne: Have you been successful at all with this particular quilt? Have you used this cone of thread before with good results? Have you tried loosening the top tension a bit? I would suggest trying another thread on a scrap sandwich to see if it works. If it does, then you can probably safely rule out burrs along the way. If another type of thread breaks also, you may have something rough that is causing it to break. Let us know what happens, ok?
MarieBrewer
Try using some Sewer's Aid on the cone of thread. I used it w/Masterpiece and it worked fine.
sewingupastorm
One other thing that I can chime in with is have you tried looseing the tension on your rollers and clamps. If your quilt is pulled too tight it can cause problems.
