Stucknlwll
Hi! New here but I need suggestions please. I’m just finishing up my 43x48 crazy quilt and I’m thinking that I don’t want to use a batting. Any thoughts on if I’d do damage to it over the years if it’s quilted with just the backing fabric? Gail O
You might have a problem with tension and stitches not having enough depth to properly lock, if you quilt it on a longarm. It would probably be best to use your dsm to quilt. Why you don't want to use batting? dbams and HelenS

It's the biggest crazy quilt I've done and it's loaded with charms, making it heavy. I think the puffiness of a lowlife batting would be too much for it
loraquilts
If you don't want to use batting, you could use a layer of flannel instead. I've done that for lighter weight quilts and it works well.
