Catherine50
Hi All, I don\'t post very often, but I find the forums extremely helpful. There have been many others who have posted for design ideas help, and some ofthe suggestions are great. Ineed your help. This is a quilt of my own, so there are no budget constraints. The stars and setting sqares are 17 inch blocks, and I\'m coming up blank for ideas, other than in the ditch for the stars. The individual little diamonds are only 3/4 inch, so that would be a lot of in the ditch. I\'m hoping you all can help me. Cathy

Quilting Heidi
Catherine, That is a beautiful quilt! You have lots of options. Personally I would do feathers meandering or some kind of feather design in the white area and cc in the stars instead of sid. If you prefer a more geometric design then you could do some cross-hatching or find some kind of motif that you just love! I think it would also be gorgeous to do a circle around the stars and then fill from there. Oh the ideas are just endless.
Catherine50
I like the circle idea. What is cc? Hmmm, circles around the stars, filled with feathers. That\'s the kind of help I was looking for. Any other ideas? Cathy
Quilting Heidi
Cathy, CC is continuous curves. If you do a webshot search for lone star you will also find a lot of ideas and most of them are done with cc\'s. It is quick and easy and it is stunning when it is done. The more I look at this the more I see circles around those stars! Be sure to post pictures when your done!
Catherine50
Hi Heidi, I love the idea of the circles around the stars. I have been staring at this quilt for so long that I just couldn\'t come up with anything. All it took was a fresh set of eyes. Thank you. I think there will be feathers around the circleson the outside, and feathers to fit into the triangles and corners of the starson the inside of the circles. I\'ve found a feather block inset that might work in the setting squares, maybe with crosshatching, or some sort of stipple. Continuous curves work for me for the stas. Thank you! Now I\'m readyand raring to go. It is etting loaded today. Cathy:
jmyhogan
You could put a sheet of plastic over one of the stars, Trace the outline of the star on the plastic, Cut out the plastic shape. Trace around it using a disappearing pen (like the purple pen), Then, using a ruler, stitch around that outline, and fill the outline with small meander. I often use the kind of plastic sleeves that are for putting sheets into a 3 ring binder. If I need to I may tape two of them together.
