Laurie
I have a customer quilt on the frame and my customer wants small scallops on the basket part of the block - a triangle. I was wondering if there is a template or stencil that works the best for marking the grid. I can freehand the scallops if I have a grid, I think Is there such a thing as a 1/2 inch grid? PattyJo
Hi Laurie - I have a stencil that I got from Pam Clarke that is 1" lines. First lay your stencil horizontal and chalk the area you are going to put clamshells on. Then, by repositioning the stencil, 1/2" up or down from the first chalking you have lines every 1/2" then repeat those 2 steps going vertical. Here is the web address for Pam\'s stencils: http://www.homestitches.com/stencils1.html. When I got my stencil home, I measured where the 1/2" should be and put a small pencil mark on my stencil so that it makes it easy to do this quickly. Hope that this helps.
