Jessica Gamez
This is the exact one: http://www.quiltingstencils.com/index.asp?PageAction=PRODSEARCH&txtSearch=SCO-183-5.5&btnSearch=GO&Page=1 The feather is done with the "bump-bump" method. The cable part you will want to use your ruler to stay on that line because if you are wobbly, you will see it.
kennan100
A quilter I know did one last year. I think she used Jamie Wallen\'s Flurry Feathers in the light sections. It\'s in her Webshots in it\'s own album. She also did something different in the Log Cabin blocks that worked really well. I don\'t think she\'ll mind if I post a link. Her name is Karen Overton, she does really good work!
shadows4
I love Karen Overton\'s stuff! I\'ve been piecing one of these quilts from a BOM! I love the fabrics, and Marti Michell\'s template\'s are wonderful to use. I\'m happy to see quilting ideas for when I get it done (if I ever get it done!) You both did wonderful jobs on them! I love seeing different treatments of the same quilt.
skrat
Thank you for sharing that info with me because I\'m gonna pick up 1 of these today and I would really like to do the cable/feather motif on it. On your cable part, do you do the same method as Karen McTavish so you don\'t have a bunch of starts and stops? And one more question, what kind of thread did you use? I used Bottom Line in both the top and bottom on mine.
Jessica Gamez
Im not sure how Karen does her cables but I backtracked on the feathers for the next cable line. If you ever get lost on the pattern, you just stipple up to where you want to go. I used So Fine but probably would have been wiser to use Bottom Line. skrat
I do believe that\'s how Karen does hers. I\'ve been studying her book and PPP so I can be more comfortable with a ruler. It makes me nervous for some reason. What ruler do you use?
Jessica Gamez
I just use my hartley ruler but if you have one that is slightly curved, it might be easier
skrat
Thank you so much for your information. I\'m using the ruler that came with my Rulermate base and I sometimes feel that it is too long, so maybe a shorter one would do much better. I\'ll start looking.
