nicks in bobbin

Recommended Posts

I have had some strange noise from my machine. I discovered some nicks in one of my bobbins. My Bobbin Genie also has some nicks. I have changed needles and the machine seems to be running fine-no thread breakage (with new bobbin) and stitches look OK. Was my bobbin case not seated properly or what? Does the machine need to be retimed? Any experience would be apprecieated.

Sandra...look at the rest of your bobbins... does the one with the nicks seem a bit wider than the other ones...I had a batch of bobbins that were marked "L", but when I set them next to an older batch, they were a tiny bit wider. The needle is coming down and flexing off the edge of the bobbin and nicking it....

If they aren\'t wider....check your Back Lash spring to see if its snug against the bobbin to keep it from wobbling inside the casing...that also could cause the bobbin to catch the needle as it comes down...causing nicks as well.
