shorequilt
hi all i've been using george for about a year and love the machine. yesterday i noticed that when using the needle up and down it moved VERY slowly and made sort of a loud grinding noise. i figured it just needed a little oil, but that hasn't helped. i ran it for a bit but then it just stopped, as if it were stuck. turned it on and off, which seemed to clear the problem, but it's still not operating correctly. any suggestions? Quilting Heidi
Deb, I don't have a George but I would guess it has an adjustment for needle up and down line the Milli does. It sounds like you need to make a minor screw adjustment. You should find the directions in your manual.
shorequilt
thanks, i'll take a look at the manual. i turned it on this morning and it seems to be moving ever more slowly. i ran it for a few moments and then when i stopped the needle took forever to rise and it sounded awful. RunningThreads
Deb: We don't have a George but I think the heads are all pretty much the same. Don't forget to check that there isn't any thread wound around the flywheel or behind the hook. Nigel
shorequilt
nigel -- that's exactly what it was. i often use invisible thread in the bobbin and i could see that some was caught, and boy, was it wound tight. it took me about an hour or two to get it out, but george is happy and humming!! thank you.
