lisae
Okay, my friend used to work at the Star and she says this is the salad dressing recipe. They typically make it in gallon jugs, so this has been cut down a bit. The "secret" is to crush the garlic and put it in the oil, then let it soak for a couple of weeks. Use a whole bottle of olive oil for soaking the garlic, and then just use the quantity the recipe calls for when making the dressing. I typically use 10-12 cloves of garlic to one 16 oz bottle of olive oil, Basque Salad Dressing 1 tablespoon olive oil (see note above) 2 garlic cloves, crushed (in addition to garlic olive oil) 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 cup mayonnaise 1 hard boiled egg, finely chopped Mix all ingredients well, chill until ready to serve. Toss with salad greens just before serving.

Bonnie
Everyone...IF you ever find yourself in Eastern Nevada....and about ready to run out of gas...its well worth stopping or the sleep over in ELKO...and the Star is a must. Great Great food, and fun. Always a hit for us heading to Montana and again heading home to Reno...that is when I lived there. And if you are heading West and haven\'t gotten enough Basque food...its a must stop in Reno to hit the family style service at "Louie\'s Basque Corner Restaurant" next to Harrah\'s Hotel Casino. As Rachel Ray would say....YUMMO!

Guest LA
Lisa, That sounds like a winner, can\'t wait to try it. Garlic is SO healthy, but EVERYBODY has to eat it or the odor knocks you over! It\'s funny you should mention running out of gas in Elko, when my husband & I were dating we did run out of gas there & we missed our flight, had to literally run down another flight on the runway to get home. (very embarrassing!) (only time in my life I hitch hiked!)
