CindyT got a reaction from Bonnie in Ok in Another Customer Embroidery Bunnies
I find myself doing quite a few embroidery quilts lately for some reason.  This cute little bunny quilt is the 2nd one I've done.  I tried to keep it simple, but she wanted it to be used decorately instead of for her grandbaby to actually use it so I could quilt is tighter than I normally would a quilt that will be used by the youngster.  Quarter inch echoing in the blocks, SID around the blocks, something featherish in the outside border and a simple sashing treatment. You know, cute quilts are just fun to quilt!  Thanks for looking.

I was very fortunate to be able to pay on a Baby Quilt . I wanted to work on grid designs the fabric in the light area was a white on white 1" grid so What better place to play. then the customer brought me another one so here are both of them together the same but different also.

Hi, Hawaii Barbara!!!  I was just thinking about you a few days ago when I wanted to start listening to some Christmas music.  You sent me the Ukelele (?) Christmas CD several years ago when we were in a miniature quilt swap!

I have a Lenni on a 10 foot table that works great for smaller quilts.  The head is lighter weight and easy to move the head for quilting.  It just doesn't have all the bells and whistles some of the other machines have or as big of a throat space.  Stitching quality is up to usual APQS standards and less maintenance with lesser bells and whistles.

I'm sure you'll get a better idea when you get to Road to California and be able to try the machines first hand.

I've been MIA from this forum for quite awhile, too, and I'm ready to get back in the loop!  Hope to see you on here!

    Hello Everyone,

As you may have noticed we've been having more issues with the current Forum's features working properly, as well as spammers infiltrating the system. The current Forum software version is outdated and an upgrade is required, but we have been holding off its implementation as long as possible to prevent disruption to the site during everyone's busy quilting time before the holidays.

However, we are to the point where we can no longer postpone the upgrade without risking the security of the site. We must implement the upgrade as soon as possible.

The new Forum software is being beta-tested right now by APQS dealers as well as some "uber-users" of our current forum. We anticipate making the change-over fairly quickly once testing is complete. Please be aware that the change-over will result in a "black-out' for a couple of days when the current Forum will be shut down to migrate all the topics and threads over to the new site. We will alert you about when that will happen so you can prepare in advance and will not be taken by surprise when the Forum is "down".

In addition, the upgrade could result in some changes to the way the Forum appears and functions but we will do everything we can to keep all the features that are important to our users. Change is always hard, but it is well worth it to keep the site safe and secure.

Thank you for your continued support of APQS and of each other through the Forum--it truly makes our "family" such a close-knit group!

Your quilting is over the top on both of these show pieces!  Don't let one judge's opinion deter you one bit.  That's just one person's opinion.  I would have quilted piano keys or beadboard also in those busy fabric borders.

CindyT got a reaction from Quilting Heidi in MQS was disappointing
I, too, used to go to MQS every year and looked forward to it every time until it moved to Wichita.  I attend the first year at Wichita and have never gone back.  I was so disappointed.  Of course the last few years it was at Kansas City, it had been dwindling down with not as many vendors and didn't seem like nearly as many quilts.  MQS was where I got to see new long arm gadgets and accessories and got to purchase my long arm thread in bulk at great prices.  Now I just order online and pay extra shipping charges.  There used to be excitement in the air and you definitely spent more than a day going through the whole thing.  At Wichita I found myself saying, "Is this it?"  I do miss seeing the people that I've met at these big shows, but there's always forums or FB that seems just easier (and cheaper) to be able to keep in contact.

To be honest, my friend and I just attended a "local" quilt show (an hour and a half away) and was disappointed this year (which we never were in the past).  In the past, it was elbow to elbow trying to get down the aisles of the vendors and you were always in competition with someone else trying to get a closeup view of the quilts on display.  This year was nothing like that.  Of course they had also raised the price of the admission to get in.  Three ladies behind me went up to pay and threw a fit of the admission price and turned around and walked away without going in.  There were other disappointing factors to me/us that I just won't mention.

I'm just wondering if it's all due to the cost of everything nowadays.

I'm giving you all a better chance to win the new Milly, as I made a deal today to trade mine in on a new one !     So, I won't be entering any more..........  I am so excited.   I have loved my older Milly and decided it was time to move up to the new one.   Can't wait to get her set up and start playing...........I am near Des Moines/Carroll, so they will deliver and set up for me..........maybe as early as next week sometime.   I spent most of the morning finishing up a quilt I had in progress and taking off the extra gadgets I can use on my new model............the micro drive handles, etc.

Here is my Allietare from Bonnie Hunters Mystery this year. I showed it at the Red Deer Quilt show. I switched the Colors to use my stash and not buy more fabric. I do love the colors and the design Thanks for looking. I did a simple design in the two blocks. I had a flannel on the back of this one.

Here is my 6 month old granddaughter that visited me at the Quilt show- Just had to add this one

CindyT got a reaction from Oma in Some days you probably shouldn't be trying to quilt
The same thing happened to me TWICE in one day about the same time it happened to you.  I was quilting with QP.  My thread breakage sensor doesn't work, and I didn't hear the bobbin run out. The thread broke and got sucked in.  The first time I just pulled the thread out for a few minutes.  The 2nd time I pulled and pulled and finally gave in and took my machine apart and saw the same thing your picture shows.  I do have a cover, but it does not stay put so I'm on the hunt in hubby's tool box for more double sided sticky tape.  This hasn't happened in a few years and then twice in one day.  SMH  I felt your pain.

Hi all!  Thought you would enjoy seeing this one.  This quilt belongs to a customer.  She did a fantastic piecing job on this huge110 inch sq. top!  Lovely gradient fabrics in great colors.  I did not want to give this one back!!!!  I told her I would quilt all her quilts for free for the next 5 years in exchange!  I could only work on it for about 3-4 hours at a time before my hands would cramp from all the small pebbles, so it was on the machine for a long time.  I can't take credit for the quilting design as this is how it appeared (as best as I could see) on the pattern jacket.  It's called, "Orbital View", by Mary Lou Hallenbeck.

First time stitching on Silk,... wasn't too bad,....
My customer said she wanted feathers,.....
the challenge was not being able to mark the spines,....
so I cut out the shape from paper and just laid on the quilt top,,,
when I started stitching,... I would move paper and stitch in design,...
worked well,.... and placement was pretty good,.....
Used silk batting too....  Cotton backing,....
    and Glide thread,....

Madelyn,  Thankfully my daughter lives very close, about 25 min. away.  I hate that my son lives more than 12 hours away!  I will definitely be close by to help.  She is due the end of July but they say twins generally come 4 weeks early.  I just pray they are healthy.  She just hit her 2nd trimester.  I love watching her grow every week.  Some weeks are much more noticeable than others. This last week was a huge change!  She is go good about letting me rub her belly and talk to "my" babies!  LOL

Mary Beth, I'm glad you received the box.  I feel we quilter's have a special bond between us and are ready to help each other anyway we can.  Material things are good, but I really enjoy and appreciate the helpful advice, the words of encouragement and the ooos and awwwwws when our work is commented on.  Just knowing that someone out there thinks enough to read and comment on what I write is worth a million dollars or more. (whether it's quilt related or NQR).  Have fun with the rulers, my heart feels good knowing that they are making someone happy and not gathering dust.  Can't wait to see your first "new" quilt.

I posted that I was back, and buying a used machine. So excited to get back in the groove. I made a statement that I wanted to start slow, and just wanted to get a couple of rulers, then start practicing. I received a personal message from Connie, "Gator", telling me that she now has a computer on her machine, and doesn't really use some of her rulers so she asked for my address. She said that I had helped her so much when she first started quilting, and she wanted to help me. Wow, first of all, I didn't think I really helped anyone. I know I asked a ton of questions, and laughed at myself a lot....anyone remember my attempt at McTavishing. Anyway, I guess you never know how you help people along the way. Today I received a box that seemed a little too heavy for a couple of rulers. Connie, girl, you out did yourself. I could not have helped you this much. Seven rulers/templates. and 2 packages of BOBs. I am truly blessed!!! Thank you sweet Gator    I hope I meet you at MQS, cause I am gonna squeeze your neck!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Can't wait to get that machine set up and start practicing.

I haven't had much time to piece this year, but I did manage to finish this UFO from a few years ago.  I took a class through our guild on sashings, and decided to try using the ruler I bought on the panel these blocks came from.  Pretty happy little quilt with all over quilting, but nothing fancy.  It's hanging in my studio for now.
