Deb2bie
Our Family tradition is bean soup on New Years Day. It's supposed to be good luck. I've heard some families have corned beef and saurkraut for the same good luck. Leftover ham from Christmas dinner makes bean soup easy and economical!!! I buy a bag of beans and use the recipe on it. It just depends on my mood whether I get the mix of several kinds of dry beans or just the little navy beans. My Dad hates the bigger ones!!! I usually put more ham in than the package calls for. I like to soak the beans in baking soda water for overnite to make them less "gas producing". Happy New Year everyone!!
