victoriasews
I know I saw several people write in about how they loved Reingold thread as an alternative to gold metallic but when I searched for it, no thread popped up. Did I spell it wrong or did I just dream it up?
victoriasews
Do you adjust your tension much? With Superior Gold, I had to lower tension to almost nothing.
ffq-lar
Hi--try www.columbiariverquilting.com for the Rheingold thread. I do not adjust anything to use it--just set the bobbin with the Towa gauge , regular tension for the top, and off you go!
victoriasews
I went to the site. Is it Heavy Metal, Metallic, or polyester? Too many choices. Also, ColumbiaRiver no longer carries Heavy Metal or Metallic. Is there another souce?
ffq-lar
Try www.kmquiltingsupply.com Heavy Metal is what I have tried.
KathyA
I just used this thread on a victorian looking quilt and it is so beautiful. Search the posts - someone had given me the thread number to order and I love it. Can go to my studio to get the info - let me know if you need it. I'll be back on late tonigh. yogiquilter
I'd also suggest Robison Anton metallics. You don't have to loosen your tension any differently, and it quilts beautifully. You can get it at Joann fabrics if you have one that has a viking dealer in it:) The thread is in that section of the store.
victoriasews
I ordered the Rheingold thread yesterday afternoon and it arrived just now - 10:00 am! I didn't even know it was possible to ship things that fast. I couldn't have driven to the store myself and got it that fast. Wow!
ramona-quilter
I used the Gold Heavy Metal (really polyester) in my MQS show quilt last year. I believe I got it from Kingsmen. It is a wonderful color, no tension trouble at all on the machine. However, you need to make sure that you knot and bury or really secure it with backtracking. It is slippery. Mine wiggled loose in a few places. It's the only thread that I have had that problem with.
lyonden
I always use the poly thread. It works and looks beautiful. I'm always a little afraid to use the metallic on a quilt that will be washed repeatedly.
victoriasews
Ohmygosh! I am doing a quilt today using the Rheingold Heavy Metal Gold. That stuff works like a dream. Thank you for all who recommended it. It is wonderful!
