Grammie Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Have any of you tried some heavy threads on top? I have to use the bobbin with Razzle but have any of you tried a 12wt in the top and if this is possible what size needle would work the best. I only have 3.5 and 4.0 and a few 4.5. Wanted to try something and wasn't sure what was close to the jean needle I use on my bernina. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Grammie
AbigailE Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Grammie Tammie, What ARE you trying to do? Inquiring minds are nosey, I mean curious.....
Quilting Heidi Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Grammie Tammie, I have not run 12 in my machine but Mindy Casperson demoed it in a class at MQX this week and it ran beautifully. She just loosene the bobbin and top tension a lot and also use a bigger needle. I think an 18 and I don't know how that translates to our 4.0. I have 5.0 and I bet that would work.
sewlinzi Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 I want to do this too. I love the razzle dazzle but really don't want to stitch the top first then turn the quilt to the back to sew with the bobbin (too much hassle)... it has to be possible. I have used some nice heavy madeira metallic threads - size 4 needle cos I can't get any others, bottom line in bobbin, adjust tension on a scrap piece and slow down. Madeira FS 20 and 12. Would love to hear about other heavy thread...
