dnice
I am baffled. I have a quilt that I want to put a pillow tuck in on to use as a bedspread. What is the proper amount to use? I am thinking that it should be 6 inches but can not find any references to what is a proper pillow tuck. I even measured 3 of my grandmother's quilts and came up with 3 differenct answers. Can someone help me in how to determine the amount needed for a pillow tuck?
quiltingjoyful51
The standard pillow tuck is 12 ". that would be 6 in and 6 out. The info is in the original The Sampler Quilt by Diana Leone. Hope that helps.
Brenni
I had never heard of a pillow tuck. When I googled it to see what it was I ran across this page. She has a calculator where you put in the pillow thickness. http://www.amishcountrylanes.com/Pages/QuiltSize.shtml Why don't more quilt books include this as a factor in making their quilts? kennan100
I always figured it with 3" to go over the top and behind the pillow, plus the width of the pillow and 8" for the tuck. But 12" would work! That total would allow for the tbickness of the pillow.
