Cheri-Artzgirl
This quilt was made by Sharon Coleman, who died July 2009. The quilt was made for her daughter and she as sent it to me for quilting. I have some ideas but would appreciate more, this is the last quilt Sharon will give her daughter and I want to quilt it special. Sorry, if the pics aren't so great, this is a huge quilt and it was hard to photograph. center of quilt Side borders
witha'K'quilting
Cheri...how about feathers in the border and also the colored spaces that match. I would cc the white squares and maybe put some line dancing in the flying geese blocks. Try to come up with a simple sashing idea for the solid purple inner border. What a beautiful top. You will do it justice.
Cheri-Artzgirl
Thanks Kristina, I had thought feathers for the two large borders, and cc the white squares so love that you agree! I'm new at this could you explain "line dancing" Thanks!
witha'K'quilting
Line dancing is similar to cc except that there is usually some accent added into the curve. Let me see if I can find some good pics and link to them. Here is a webshots link to some line dancing: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/1124361063039363494MINLcJ This one is much more complex: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/1137075534039363494ISUHgX
Cheri-Artzgirl
Thank you so very much! I didn't know that's what it was called, line dancing doesn't look like anything I can't do! I've got one on the machine about 1/2 way complete and one to follow this and then on to the purple quilt. Now I'm excited and ready to go!
Quilting Heidi
I was actually going to suggest exactly what Kristina suggested. I would probably just SID the stars and add only a little quilting if needed. I would also try to find out if the daughter can think of anything that reminds her of her mother. Like a feathers or lines or swirls or things. What a precious gift you will be giving her!
