blair8904
I have, so far, done three quilts from the back with a panto and the stitch regulator. I now want to get around to the front and try a stencile or some free hand work. Would you suggest this newbie sticks with the stitch regulator or not? Thanks for your input. sspingler
Depends (hows that for an answer) Sometimes it's best to use the SR and sometimes I do much better with it off. Depends on what you are doing and how proficient you are. As you progress, you will find you can do better without it.
Quilting Heidi
I like to use the SR if I need to follow closely. If I'm doing a fill then I go without.
meg
i say load a practice piece and give it whirl to see what you think. im new to all this - and when i was having my major tension headache - i accidentally turned on lola-baby without the sr. i decided to give it a try - and after i calmed down and went with it - i really liked it. it feels like you can move the machine easier with it turned off. since i have been doing only practice pieces, i have tried it many times. now - i have just loaded an actual top onto lola - and will use the sr the whole time. just because of my lack of confidence. and i think you want to use sr with the attachments like the qz or cl or hartley fence - or for ruler work - cause it works like a charm in those instances. but i am very glad i accidentally ran without it it that day cause i could see really preferring it for some circumstances.
