nora123
Any one finished a quilt called "AKATOMBO" from the quilters newsletter march 2008. This is a custom job and I am just coming up with nothing. If you know this pattern please let me know how you finished it. Thanks, Nora

CrazyAboutQuilting
Nora, maybe for those of us who have never heard of that quilt, you could post a picture of it. Then you will probably get some really wonderful suggestions!

Sandra Darlington
I'm not familiar with the name of it either. A picture is "worth a thousand words."

Susanne.Hughes
Thanks for the picture Bonnie! I am not much of a help here, but this is what I see...................... It is an under/over quilt (herringbone - basket weave), so high contrasting thread and work the design in a weaving manner in the different stripey squares following the diagonal "rows". Could be some type of feather, either traditional or round type ferny to keep the design soft. To me the striped blocks running from bottom right to top left seem to lie on top of the stripes heading from bottom left to top right. (I am blonde and this makes perfect sense to me!) I would outline the flowers and push them forward by heavy backgound stitching behind them (stipple. McTavishing etc). Piano keys in the Border or maybe cross hatching or basket weave lines, to keep the under/ over feel. We need our super stars to comment here.......... Heidi, Doddlebug, Shana etc......... where are you in Nora's hour of need? Cheers,

Quilting Heidi
Oh I did one of those. I did a circle around the daisy design and stippled the background around the daisy and then I did a feather meander around the circles. It came out really pretty. Here is a picture and you can go to my webshots for more pictures.

Quilting Heidi
LOL I had no idea what the pattern was for this quilt but I did want to keep it! When I saw Bonnie's picture I said, "Oh I've done one of those tops." The feather meander made it very elegant and my customer loved it.
