Neher-in-law5
I was wiping down George and checking things before beginning to quilt for the day and the 3-hole guide closest to the tension disk is now loose. I can turn it backwards, but I can't turn it to tighten it back up so a bump won't loosen it. When I try, I run into the flywheel cover. I can't get the flywheel cover off, because the slots in the screw heads won't hold my phillips screwdriver. I really don't want to take off the whole front plate, that would sure mess up the tension apparatus then. Otherwise, George is in great shape and works well. JudyLynn
I think mine did that once, and I just put it back into place and then try real hard not to bump it. Am not going to try now to see if it is tight or not. good luck.
juliagraves
Sounds like you stripped your screws. Try a flat screw driver, else you may need to drill out the screws. Another option - I put a couple of layers of painter's tape under and behind the guide to hold it in place. Julia
Neher-in-law5
Thanks, I'll see what those things do. I haven't gotten hubby in the close space yet to see if he can get better torque on the screwheads of the flywheel plate
Neher-in-law5
Ended up with a better screwdriver with fatter handle. I was able to loosen the screws on the flywheel cover, swing it away enough that I could tighten my 3-hole guide. Screwed the cover back in place and it has been working well. That guide shouldn't loosen for much of anything now!
Quilting Heidi
I finally fixed mine too! I hope it stays put this time!
