Lib
I got this Celtic quilt from a client the other day and I have looked at it and looked at it and just can't decide how I should quilt it. Can someone pleeeeeease give me some suggestions? I have attached a picture so hopefully it will show. Libby
LadyLake
Hi Lib, This quilt is similar to one posted on the forum a couple of days ago: http://www.apqs.com/quiltboard/viewthread.php?tid=29428 The long vertical sides on your quilt are interesting -- could we see a closeup of those? Maybe we could help you with that.
Lib
Thanks Joan. I have no idea how I missed that quilt. I know Sandra had said cross hatching is out, but it gave me an idea. What does everybody think about a curved cross hatch? Lib ps I am trying to post a picure of the side sashing, but I don't think this is going to work. Beverlyquilts
I quilted a celtic minature. I had a hard time trying to figure out the border quilting. I wanted to try a free hand shamrock, but the border was only 8 " wide, and I couldn't make the stitching look "right." My customer loved the McTavishing. I'll try to attach a picture. Beverlyquilts
And a close up... Bev
Lib
Bev, I do like the McTavishing. I was thinking about a curved cross hatching but have decided against that. I think it will probably be the McT or a small stipple. Just have to decide on the one wide shashing. Lib
LadyLake
Lib, I wonder if it would help to divide up the outer border. Perhaps quilting in an inner border next to the Celtic knot applique' on the outer border; could also quilt in another border between the Celtic knot and the edge of the quilt. Anniquilter
I love Joan's idea of dividing up the border. That's such a large expanse of white. Could you do a cable/rope design between the body of the quilt & the celtic rope border?
