Usually a cleaning/oiling will do the trick, but it seems there is some jiggly play in the housing for the bobbin case. In addition, when I'm running the machine there is a distinct loud humming and rattle that I cannot fathom how to correct. When we test the timing, needle comes down but starts up ever so slightly and the opening on the bobbin case has rotated to the left as well. Earlier my needle broke while quilting (yes it punched holes in the quilt), and we had to re-adjust the needle bar when I replaced the needle. Hubby said noise is coming from the horizontal housing behind the bobbin? Help. Cynthia Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
dtreusch Posted November 6, 2006 Report Share Posted November 6, 2006 Have you thought about repacking the gear box? Sometimes air bubbles gets into the grease around the gear box over time and can cause the machine to run noiser and the noise will come from behind the bobbin area. It's pretty easy to do. ffq-lar Posted November 7, 2006 Report Share Posted November 7, 2006 Hi Sharon--- If your hummmm goes away when you put pressure on the top of the machine, see if the top cover is snugged down.
