elkayr
This is a comfort quilt from my guild. What color thread would you use? The outside border & the back are navy blue. I had planned to use navy but not sure now. I'm not experienced enough to use 2 different colors for top & bobbin.
DawnCavanaugh
Linda, Do you have anything that is not quite as dark as navy in the "blue" color family? Perhaps a darker dusty blue? It will tie the orange interior and navy border together without being too pronounce in either area, and without blending so well that it looks like you forgot to quilt an area. Sheri Butler
What about quilting with 2 verigated threads of so-fine #40? One with the darker blue hue's and one with the yellow/orange or red (can't tell what color it is exactly). Use a 4.0 needle so both threads will easily flow thru. BunkHouseQuilts
I have found that dark burnished gold colored thread often works well for dark blues mixed with bright colors. My favorite is So Fine "Ginger" by Superior Threads. It doesn't fight with any of the colors. I often use it on red, white and blue quilts and it compliments all the colors. Janette
On a similar darker gold / bronzy theme I would put Glide Mocha (20727) on this one..... on the top and on the bobbin too (if I were doing a panto on it)
elkayr
Thanks, I'll look at my thread & see what I have. I'm in the So Fine thread club but don't have a big variety yet.
LibbyG
I'm color challenged myself, but did you think of using a purple? Since it has the blue and red in it, it'd probablylook good on the quilt.
Sandra Darlington
I'm working on a t-shirt quilt with similar colors and decided to use a grayish silvery Glide thread top & bobbin. It isn't "stark" even on the deep royal blue.
