Farmland Quilter
DH saw a singer with wood cover on Craigs List. It's definitely not a featherweight. This thing is heavy! It was manufactured in 1925. Would you believe it still runs and the light even turns on. The singer logo on the front of the case still looks good. Paid $125. Hope that was a good price. . Sooner or later I'll probably collect a featherweight if there are still any around.
lisae
Cheryl, I have two of those. They are heavy! I understand they were among the first electric sewing machines made. A good source for Featherweights is the Sew It's For Sale Yahoo group. I love my old sewing machines!
JUDY-MN
There is a couple in St. Cloud MN. that usually has featherweights for sale. That is the only machine that they work with & has parts for. My husband purchased one for me for Christmas two years ago, I took it up to them to have it checked out & I was only missing one tiny screw! A nice friendly couple, & they also have a "featherweight" group that sews only on featherweights. If only I lived just a little closer, perhaps when I retire..... If you are interested in name & more info let me know.
Bonnie H
Sounds like you've been bitten by the sewing machine bug! If you lived closer, I'd invite you to come shop at my house. I got bit by that bug a while ago and have too many machines!
