Mandalei
Here's the backstory: I have been sponsored by Modern Quilts Unlimited to give a 30 minute demo and talk about my quilts and design inspiration this Thursday at QuiltCon. I am kind of hoping that this is a "hey notice me and my patterns!" moment. BUT. It's also right in the middle of one of my 9-5 classes (only slot available), so I have to duck out for 45 minutes and then run back for the last 2 hours of the class. Having not been to a ton of these types of things, I want to look nice but I don't want to look like I am trying too hard. I'm thinking nice tailored dark jeans, cute but comfortable fancy dress sneakers, and a cardigan and shirt in great patterns. Don't want to wear fancy shoes since it's a longarming class and I don't want ot have to hobble for the rest of the conference! would love to hear your thoughts, thank you! Neher-in-law5
Or a simple, maybe quilted jacket in place of the cardigan to give a notch of professional look. You could keep the jacket off until you were ready to be interviewed and it could cover up any stray threads that may have visited you!
LibbyG
I'm the worst fashion advisor ever. But I would wear something that I knew I looked good in and was comfortable. If I'm comfortable and like what I'm wearing, I'm more relaxed. I like the idea of the quilted jacket if you have one.
LisaC
Just one more thing to think about: Can you truly remember what anyone wears in classes or demo's you have taken? We women worry too much as my dear husband reminds me! Have fun and congratulations; you'll do great!
Busy Quilting
If you are at your machine and have a brightly coloured quilt in front of you it would be better to wear a plain coloured top so it doesn't compete. As a signing teacher my sister had to wear one coloured tops so the children could see her hands easily to read the signs!
