cstucke80
I have a Sun Bonnet Sue appliq. quilt set on 12 " Blocks. It also has a 2 color sashing between each block that equals approx. 2 1/2" total sashing. What would you do on a quilt like this? Looking for ideas, is a meander on the part of the block that does not have the appliq. and stitch around the dolls or what would you do to make it look good? Any help would be appreciated:) cstucke80
oireachtas
If it's an old fashioned looking Sun Bonnet Sue, I think they look nice done in a traditional style with cross hatching in the applique blocks and a rope or cable or feathers in border and sashing. The more modern ones also look fabulous with mctavishing or another nice background filler. Of course that would work on a traditional one too. delld
You could do a back ground in each block to match the SBS. Crosshatching, Rail fence behind her with hills and sky, a barn, a wash tub and clothes line and so on. Cable, alternating leaves or curls in the sashing would be nice. look at the quilt on line and see what they did. You can get lots of ideas!!!
