This is just a little bit of a different system than cutting the perfect shape and sewing together. It makes a slightly bigger block that you cut down to size with the template, which I think I might like better. I wanted to make the storm at sea with the large diamond and not have to piece two triangles together. I just thought it would look better in the finished product and be a little more fun to quilt.
