maggienoella
This quilt I'm doing a beadboard on has a flange. The question is...which is the best way to press the seam on the flange in order to SID? I pressed it toward the center instead of toward the outer border like the client had it. BUT it seems to want to stand up a bit after the SID. Did I do this completely wrong? Thanks for your replies...I've been out of town and have to get this one done tonight. RitaR
My guess, not experience, would be to press them where they want to go. It seems there is more fabric built up in the seam allowance, and that is what would be an indication of direction.. I'm not positive.. just thinking and guessing. Good Luck, Rita
mamu
It probably is wanting to lay away from the center like the client had it. I would give it another light press to get it to lay down. I have never sid under a flange.
Quilting Heidi
They are such a pain. I would say press away from the center but once you SID them they do tend to want to stand up a bit. Give it a light press like Laura suggested and you should have your problem solved.
maggienoella
Well, I wanted to SID the border so that I could do the beadboard, so I pressed the seams to the center so that I could have a ditch at the edge of the border. I pressed it twice & it ended up looking ok for a beginner. It was out of square & a little friendly. Joan
