Sheagatzi
and of course the top tension is super tight and the thread is breaking. When I pull the top thread from the needle, it is too tight, when I loosen it,the tension is horrible. I tried turning to spool upside down and it gets caught on the base of the spool. any other ideas? If I thread the 3 holes down down down instead of up up up would that work? Of course, this is the thread that I specifically made a trip to colour match and I don't have anything else that would be good! grr!!
Tella
Is it backwards from how thread is usually wound? Have you tried to wind it on a spool and use it that way?
LibbyG
With King Tut Dawn says to thread up and down one time. You can try skipping some of the holes and see if that works. Also, Heidi, told me some spools aren't smooth on the bottom and if you use an emery board the thread doesn't get caught on it.
Sheagatzi
Thank you! I did a panic post. Ha! I calmed myself down, had a quick breather and then tried a few things. I put a thread net on, kept the thread in the upright position, and only went through one hole in the 3 hole guide. Seems to have worked. Thank goodness! Sheagatzi
Okay, so after looking through my thread stash it seems as there are both clockwise and counterclockwise thread winds - I thought that one was the 'norm' ? Now I'm confused. Do I worry about how it comes off the spool then?
Busy Quilting
Cross wound are best if they come off the top of the spool. Stack wound are best if the come of the side of the spool. The twist of the thread is usually the problem. Usually Those made in the Mediteranean have the opposite twist to those made in the US.
