juliagraves
Darlene Epps has some wonderful little books of patterns that are incredibly easy but look great. I highly recommend these books for someone just starting out. BethDurand
I'm with Julia. I now teach the machine quilting class at the LQS, and I really wish that I had had these wonderful little books when I years ago. Beth
lovetwoquilt
I just received my Pocket Guides by Darlene Epps and they are wonderful. I also liked the "Pajama Quilter" dvd by Dawn Ramirez. She teaches meandering. As a newbie I found the above very helpful
sewingupastorm
If you want to learn to McTavish I suggest you buy her book on it. She has a DVD and shows you how she does it. That is where I learned how to do it. Once I filled pages of drawings of McTavish I tried it on quilts. After about a dozen quilts with McTavish I feel it is getting pretty good. Basicly on any of the meandering styles.........draw with paper and pencil to get the hang of the design and then go to your machine. Like playing the piano it takes practice to get it right.
