Mercedes
I'm tired of trying to use a small lightbox to trace designs for quilting. I know some of you use your long arm table top however my room isn't conducive to doing that. I'd like to use my old card table to make a foldable lightbox. I was thinking I could use a piece of plexiglass the size of the card table top and then use maybe 1 inch white tubing (the kind Lowes sells) to put under the plexiglass to hold it up. Maybe cut the tubing in 2 inch lengths and put one on each corner of the table, then put a bolt through the plexiglass, thru the tubing into the table top and then add a screw to the bolt under the table. Now I'd have a piece of plexiglass approximately two inches above the table. My problem is what to use for lighting between the card table top and the plexiglass? If I can figure this out, I would have a nice sized lightbox that could be used anywhere and will fold away when not in use. If anyone has any ideas on lighting for this or other options to turn the card table into lightbox, I'd love to hear them. It needs to be pretty easy as I'm doing this myself. I know we have some pretty creative people on the list so I'm hoping for a good solution. Thanks!
Oma
Just about any kind of lighting Mercedes, that would fit into that space. They have flat lighting "sticks" for under cabinets that would work. I'm pretty sure some rope lighting would work. Experiment.
micajah
try the clear led christmas lights. you could use several long strands, if you have any on hand left from the holidays, give it a try and see how it works. debbie

mlsa3
Walmart sells 13" flurorscent lights for around $10.00. I have 3 mounted on the front of my frame to turn on when I want to look at the bottom of my quilt. The lights plug into each other on the end so if you need more than one you only have one cord to mess with. David
Wyonut2run
Or you could cut the card table top and leave only a couple inches on each side. Or remove the legs and attach directly to the plexiglass
