gable428
What is the difference between a modified float and a full float? Thank you. Gable
mrsbishwit
Well since nobody has answered this, then I will A full float is when the quilt top is laid on top then basted to the batting/backing, the quilt top is not attactched to any leaders. Used to help square a very unsquare top, used when quilting a round quilt top, or when you have a scallopped edge around the top. A partial float or modified float is when only one of the sides of the quilt top is attacthed to the leader (usually the bottom of the quilt top) while the top of the quilt is basted to the batting/backing. Which I use all of the time when I am doing pantos so I am able to quilt off the top of the quilt so I have my panto covering every square inch of quilt while still maintaing the stability of having the bottom of the top attatched to the leader. gable428
Joann, I was beginning to think nobody knew what these are!! Just kidding Thank you so much for the reply. The partial float sounds complicated to me. I will have to give it a try though. What I have been doing is the "full float." Thanks again for the info Gable
ramona-quilter
Me, too, Norece. I sometimes got dog ears on the bottom when I used the partial float. I don't have that problem anymore.
