Can you clean too much?

Is there an alternative to WD40. It gives me a huge headache and makes me feel ill. I have a fine artists paintbrush that gets in to all the nooks and crannies and use that at every bobbin change. I clean my machine with a blast of WD40 when required at the end of the day and open the windows but the smell lingers. Any ideas?

You all have been so helpful with all of your cleaning hints. I did put a little car wax on the rails and cleaned the wheels for the first time with alcohol and boy did she fly...I couldn't believe all the black stuff that came out of the wheels..

I was wondering though, will the alcohol eventually dry out the wheels?
