mcarmickle
Attached is the other end of the quilt...just so you can see what I am talking about. Thanks!
chickenscratch
I see no other option that the rip it out, remeasure it and stitch it without tension on it.
matildanme
Would you be willing to unpick and resew the backing for your customer....for a price ? It would be the quickest solution. I had one puckery backing where half of it was streched 3" so that it fitted the other half. I resewed it and let her know that we do not force fabric to fit!! We measure and pin and sew gently without pulling. Good luck cheers
jmcclannan
If the back is big enough you wouldn't need to unstitch the added piece. You could just lay it on your cutting mat and rotary cut right beside the seam line. Then you could measure both pieces and probably solve your mystery. Something is clearly stretched. Susanne.Hughes
I ditto everyone else. It looks like "borders" not correctly attached........ if you are willing, let her know you'll fix it for a price, or get her to re-attach them. If you are going to custom quilt, I don't see any other option that will make you or your customer happy! Happy Easter,
mcarmickle
I removed the added pieced and measured it vs. the width of the existing backing...there was almost 3- 3/4" difference!Apparently the client had pulled the backing to make it match the seams of the added section. What a mess...I am going to have to do some major "surgery" on it to make it work. Glad I checked it! You were right.
hollyc
I wouldn't unsew. If you have enough fabric, cut off the seam allowance and start over. Much quicker.
