dtreusch
Someone posted awhile back about a brand of invisible thread that is thinner than the monopoly and doesn't have the shine. Does anyone know this brand? I couldn't find it in the search. I'd like to get some at MQS if they have a booth.
Renae
I would love to find some that doesn't have the shine also.
Mary Beth
Actually, Monopoly has a new matte finish so it is not shiny now. And, that other thread is nylon, not poly. Linda Rech posted the message, let me see if I can find it.
ramona-quilter
Is it Madeira Monolon? I just bought a cone of it. It is 100% polyamid and is not as stiff or as shiny as MonoPoly. It does not have the curls after thread berak, mostly because it does not break like the other. Monolon is not Monofil, I have never tried the Monofil. The downside...you have to buy 15K yd cone (with sock). Mine was $29 from Columbia River. I really like the stuff for SID.

dtreusch
I knew somebody would come through. I'll have to check the vendor list and see if Madeira has a booth. if not, maybe Columbia River will have it. I can always order online..... Linda - Does the Monolon melt if it is ironed? ffq-lar
Hi Debbi, I'm a different Linda:)--but I like the Monolon. I recently did a non-scientific test with both threads and the hottest setting on my Teflon-coated iron. Neither thread melted with full 10 second contact laid on a sheet of paper. Longer exposure to the iron resulted in no change with the Monolon and the Monopoly (quite a bit thicker) became opaque and a little rough. I use both types with good results. I'll see if I have a photo of a recent quilt where I used the Monolon.
dtreusch
Thanks Linda R. I'd like to see your quilt. I avoid using Monopoly at the moment because I hate the shine that it has.
