quiltgirl
Hi - I am selling a quilt that I pieced but had quilted by a professional longarm quilter. I paid her for her services. Since I have never sold a quilt before, I do not know the "etiquette." Is it customary to give a portion of the sales price to the LA quilter? witha'K'quilting
You wouldn't need to give her any proceeds from the sale. You already paid her for her services...so her part is done!
Bonnie
No, you pieced it, you paid for the service of having it quilted, you owe nothing more to the quilter. Now if it was a quilt going to a show and it won a prize or money, then you might, but then I personally would have rather had the ribbon than the money...if it was me. Quilting Heidi
I agree with Kristina and Bonnie. If a customer won prize money I would never expect them to share it but a bonus would be nice. I figure I charge them for the service at what I think is a fair price. I would expect to be acknowledged as the quilter.
carolinequilts
I have quilted quilts for a customer who sells her quilts. I've never even considered asking for proceeds from the sale. I charge her for the quilting as I would any other customer and she can do what she wants with the quilt after that - it is hers to sell or keep or give away. quiltgirl
Thank you all. I just was unfamiliar with the proper thing to do, and wanted to make sure that I did what is appropriate.
bobbi
One thing I would surely suggest would be to make sure that the label on the back of your quilt also lists the name or website, etc. of the quilter. Such as: Name of quilt type of bat, etc. Designed and Pieced by: your name here Quilted by: quilter's name here What ever else information you want to put on it.
