quiltlover03
Just doing a good clean up on my machine and I noticed that my beak pads are all bunched up. Yes, I like everything real tight, so I know what caused it, but how do I fix it? What kind of glue do I use? Any gurus out there? Thanks a bunch. barbm
Monika, I had the same issue on my first Millie. To fix it, I took the brake units off the table, peeled all the old velcro off the pieces (used a hairdryer to provide gentle heat), then used Goo Gone to strip off as much of the goop as I could. Once I had it all cleaned, I cut new pieces of industrial strength velcro and glued them on with "gorilla glue." I also used a staple gun to staple each end of the velcro to the wood of the brake, being careful to keep the staples away from where the brake would rub on the rollers. I didn't have any more issues after that.

barbm
Probably - you might as well try it, if it doesn't hold, you just need to go through the process again.
quiltlover03
The velcro I took off is actually in pretty good shape. I got the goo off the wooden blocks, so I think I will just reglue the old strips till i get to town and then repeat the process again. Thanks so much for your help. peglu
Monika, are you still using the original side clamps that came with your machine? I replaced my side clamps, so the velcro pieces from the old clamp worked well to replace my bunched up and goo'd up break velcro. Just a thought. quiltlover03
Ah darn, never thought of that. I replaced mine too. Just glued the old velcro to the wood with 3M super strenght adhesive, didn't have gorilla glue, only gorilla tape. Hope it works till I get to town.
